How many sommeliers did you train?

To date, 1143 wine stewards have been trained and, with all the public and private support we have received for the project, we are well on our way to training 2010 by the end of 2010.

Did you meet your target of selling 17500 cases of Fundi wine to fund the project?

Our initial budget projection estimated that we needed to produce and sell 17500 cases x 6 of Fundi wine in order to train the 2010 wine stewards. However, thanks to a number of generous donations from the Cape Winelands municipality, we were able to decrease the volumes needed while still generating enough funds to train the targeted number of students. In the end, we only produced 8500 cases x 6, which are being sold to fund the training.

The Fundi website says nearly 150 unemployed people received training in March and April. Did they find jobs?

Of the 150 unemployed people trained in Cape Town during March/April 2010, more than 90% have found employment in hotels and restaurants in Cape Town.

Will the project continue once the World Cup show rolls out of town?

The project is on track to train 2010 students by the end of this year and we plan to continue until we have reached that target.
